I love this idea! I think we should do it! Although, the question is, will Shaun be able to lift and carry my fat pregnant ass??
I love all the photography in this wedding. It's simple and there's no fancy tricks or manipulation, but I think it's warm and rich and the shots capture really natural moments and expressions.
I love the warmth in this photo.

I put some zinnias in the milk glass vases I have

and I'm not totally crazy about how they look.
It might just be that I don't zinnias.
But it makes me want to lean more towards collecting brown glass & vintage apothecary bottles.

I don't know if this would work, or be allowed, ...... but it is cool! They are called Chinese Sky Lanterns I believe.

I love this guest book.

How beautiful.

I think wood-burning kits are easy to come by.

If not the guest book, maybe I can incorporate this somwhere.

I already have one old window. Maybe if I find another one, I can use them somehow.

I like this hair thingy from this wedding, an all-around beautiful wedding, which I'm pretty sure I've stolen photos from before, the flowers I think.

The One?

I think I want this dress! (Thanks to Lee for forwarding an email that featured it!)

I'm a little nervous about ordering a dress online, but returns are accepted. However, they're only accepted for 14 days, so I wouldn't be able to hang on to this for a while and see if I find something better. I would either have to go with it, or send it back. This makes me nervous because the wedding is still so far away, and what if I find something I like even more in six months from now? But then again, I might regret not buying this while it's available.

There are likely some alterations that would need to be done:

I would have the lining at the neckline altered so that it doesn't show, so there's just the deep V of lace.

The lining is shorter than the length of the dress, so unless it turns out I like it that way, I would have the lining lengthened. Maybe all new lining put in, something a little nicer than jersey. I'm not a seamstress, but these seem like fairly simple alterations.

What do you guys think? Am I jumping the gun? Am I robbing myself of the experience of going dress shopping?

Like the photo garland we have in our house, we could hang some through out the brewery so people can walk around thinking how cute (vain) we are.

Stones as place settings: Cool or cheesy?

Just another example of antique bottles as flower vases.

I really, really like this chicken wire and wood frame to display the place settings. It looks so pretty with the vines and flowers cascading over it. Who can build it for me?

I also just had this idea to start searching for vintage playing cards with pretty designs on the back for the place settings or table numbers. The face side of the card would have a piece of pretty paper glued over it with the name or number on it. Or maybe vintage postcards? I know they are plentiful at antique stores.

Rachel Comey.

I think we should add Saks Fifth Avenue to the list of places to look for dresses.

I love this bouquet.

I want to go to David's Bridal and try on these two dresses in Vera Wang's "cheaper" line White. Mom, if our forces combine, I think they're within budget.

-

BHLDN dresses, like the lovely one below, will never be within budget, unfortunately.

I wish this was less complicated, because a simpler, more symmetrical version of this dress would be basically ideal.

(via Bloomingdale's)

I don't think I would actually do this, but I think it's ambitious and cool looking!

P.S.

Alice, I love that dress you posted!

(I couldn't comment on that post for some reason).

What do you think of this dress? I thought it looked kind of like the ones you picked.
http://www.modcloth.com/Womens/Dresses/-In-the-Heirloom-Dress?share_using=polyvore#
"In lieu of a unity symbol, they opted to do something a little bit different. They instead had a wooden box made and filled it with a bottle of whiskey and two love letters. The box is supposed to symbolize their love when it was at its peak and whenever they go through a rough patch with their marriage, they can open the box, drink the whiskey and read the love letters they wrote to each other and reflect on why they fell in love. The hope is that they never have to open the box, which is why they had their closest family and friends help seal the box during the ceremony."

I suggested to Shaun the other day that maybe we could write each other letters and read them at the ceremony. But he was unsure and we decided to think about it for a couple of days. I like what this couple did because they didn't have to read the letters in front of people. Although, I'm starting to think that the ceremony needs to have a certain amount of vulnerability, seeing as the whole point is we are publicly stating our love and comittment to each other.

Also, I'm not sure we could wait until a "rough patch" if we knew there was an unopened bottle of Jameson somewhere in the house.

For transporting ourselves and guests from the hotel to the museum - from the museum to the photo site - from the photo site to the brewery - and then from the brewery to the hotels at the end of the night, we'll have an old-fashioned trolley!

HERE'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE.

Thanks Mom!

(click on the link, click on TROLLEYS, and it's the one in the middle that seats 33).

It's kind of hard to see, but I like the copper pot in the image above for planter options.

Candy jars! I like the idea of custom-stamped small brown paper bags for the guests to fill with candy, but if Shaun can get clear plastic bags for free, then that makes more sense I guess. My co-worker has a giant hole punch with a 2-inch diameter that she used to punch out round stickers that she designed using a template from Martha Stuart's website. So I could do that and put a sticker on each bag. It could say "S&S" in a cool font or something.

MEN

So the "groomsmen", so to speak, are the fellas who will be at the ceremony: Dylan, Zak, Miles, and Mark, (and maybe a couple other friends of Shaun's, but I don't know about that yet.)

We want the guys to wear something of their own choosing, but we're going for a "1950's Harvard English Teacher" or "stud in nerds clothes" (both Shaun's expressions) type of look. I also like the "dust bowl era Sunday best" look.

We don't want anyone to have to invest in a new suit or bust their budgets. I could find all of these outfits in thrift stores for under $30, I'm sure.

(I'm pretty sure Miles already owns all of this.)

Inspiration for Dr. Who:

Filler flowers are pretty!

Lace doily wrapped jars are pretty, too!

I LOVE this blue tinted glass. Also, I want these colored roses and peonies in my bouquet, and does anyone (Alice) know what that flower is that's white with the purple center? I love those.

I like these white vases.

Multiple kinds of cupcakes instead of a cake. (Something Shaun and I actually agree on!)
