MEN

So the "groomsmen", so to speak, are the fellas who will be at the ceremony: Dylan, Zak, Miles, and Mark, (and maybe a couple other friends of Shaun's, but I don't know about that yet.)

We want the guys to wear something of their own choosing, but we're going for a "1950's Harvard English Teacher" or "stud in nerds clothes" (both Shaun's expressions) type of look. I also like the "dust bowl era Sunday best" look.

We don't want anyone to have to invest in a new suit or bust their budgets. I could find all of these outfits in thrift stores for under $30, I'm sure.

(I'm pretty sure Miles already owns all of this.)

Filler flowers are pretty!

Lace doily wrapped jars are pretty, too!

I LOVE this blue tinted glass. Also, I want these colored roses and peonies in my bouquet, and does anyone (Alice) know what that flower is that's white with the purple center? I love those.

I like these white vases.

Multiple kinds of cupcakes instead of a cake. (Something Shaun and I actually agree on!)

An assorment of desserts instead of a cake.

An example of simple, accessible flowers for on the tables.

maybe i should ask more girls to be my "bridesmaids" so each of you can wear one of these dresses.....

update

Hi quasi-bridesmaids and Mom.

Next weekend, we're going to Milwaukee to find a ceremony site! I can't wait to figure this part out! We're looking at botanical gardens, these dome things that have plants inside them, some parks, and we're looking into the public library to see if it's possible to get married amid the shelves of the Historical Biography* section. Once we have a location, Shaun and I will be able to think more about the structure of the ceremony: where will guests stand / sit?! Where will Shaun stand?! Will I enter from a different, hidden location?! I don't know the answers to any of these questions and I get stressed just thinking about it, so I'm going to stop now.

Alice is working on the save-the-dates, so that is good. Those will be going out in early October - seems far off but it's only 5 months away!

Ladies, I know I told you you can wear whatever you want but that maybe there will be a color "family". Currently, that family is something I'm calling "Milk and Honey". Perhaps with some lavendar or mint as garnishes. So, basically as long as your dress is the color of pale food, then it will work. I also kind of want you all to look like sirens or nymphs. (See: the river scene in O Brother; the entire Virgin Suicides movie.)

I'm almost mentally prepared to go dress shopping. Especially since my mom just told me she's buying my dress!

*Just an example. We also like Sci-Fi, American Fiction, and Cooking.

"Marilyn"
"Caitlin"

- Both of these are part of the Thread line, which is carried at Bella Bridesmaids downtown.

Say Hello to my dream dress, ladies. And then say goodbye because it is OUT OF STOCK. Whoever can find me this dress gets to be my best friend forever.
Welcome to my schizophrenic dress brain.

(All of these are at either Nordstrom or Bloomingdales)

(ralph lauren, bloomingdales)

I actually really, really like this dress. The details you can't see: some knotting/rouching on the bodice, and the sheer little sleeves have delicate little beads on them. This one's at Nordstrom, I think. I keep going back and forth about length. A short dress would be fun. And I like the idea of being comfortable and breezyyyy........
...... Or extremely fancy? I like the lines on this dress, I like the fall of the skirt at the hips and the way it hangs at the hem, and the lace bodice wraps around to a sheer back. Kind of scandalous, yet also, elegant.
This deep V will show up my amazing cleavage. Ha. I'm usually not a fan of beady adornment but the leafy things on this are pretty.
I hate the styling here, but the dress is pretty, although I would remove the black sash.

I kind of want to go to Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom and try all of these dresses on.
I found this on some random blog. I just like the fabric strip garland.
